This extension is a loading silo construction for food pellets and built in the interstice of two existing concrete silos. It is horizontally braced by the existing silo construction. The total dimensions of the extension are approx. 13m x 8m x 41m. On the ground floor the steel construction intersects an existing storeroom with sagging plant.
21 small silo cells are located in a height of 20 m above the two storeroom-levels. These silo cells are realized as steel-plate honeycomb structure. Above there is a high roof space that makes room for stored goods.
Due to bad soil conditions the basement consists of a reinforced concrete slab, which is combined with ductile ram piles.
