AU 19 Return kitchen ramp
Client: Steiermärkische Krankenanstaltengesellschaft m.b.H.
In the project, a later extension in front of the historic building is to be demolished or dismantled for reasons of monument protection. In the course of the conversion, a new staircase is to be built and new openings created in the load-bearing walls.
For the construction of the staircase, existing capped ceilings and slab beam ceilings are to be removed. It is planned to compensate for the stiffness of the ceilings in the form of a circumferential grid and to transfer the additional loads to the floor with new reinforced concrete columns in the basement.
The planned openings in the load-bearing walls represent a weakening of the load-bearing structure with regard to the building’s rigidity against earthquakes.
The weakening of the building is compensated for by additional steel frames and additional wall discs.
