The BG/BRG Weiz is to be extended by four standard classrooms to the north-west. The extension features a complex geometry and will be constructed using conventional reinforced concrete, with deep foundations comprising ductile cast iron driven piles. The basement is largely open-plan and, apart from small technical rooms, features only a few walls for bracing and numerous diagonal braces facing south. Formally, the ground floor above appears to float on the columns and walls of the basement. Numerous alterations are being made to the existing north-west façade of the existing building to ensure a seamless connection with the existing structure.
